The current government has announced to create a digital Bangladesh. Even though I really do not understand what they meant by digital Bangladesh, I guess it has something to do with computers and information technology. Government wants to computerize the whole government system, education system, health care etc. It is a ambitious goal indeed. I believe that if the government is indeed serious about it then they need to do it phase by phase and one sector after another one. Digitization is not a just creating some html pages and leave it there to let it turn into a abandoned portal with obsolete and backdated information.
The government should first implement the digitization process on a sector that is most easy to implement. I believe that easy sector is the education sector of the country. Government has already took some steps by publishing the education board results like SSC and HSC through the education board web pages. The school books from grate 1 to grade 10 can also be found online and can be downloaded for free. These steps shows that the government is puting some effort. Unfortuantely it is not enough. A lot lot more needs to be done. The digitization of the education system cannot be inplemented only the government - priate sectors, NGOs also do need to play a vital part to fulfill this goal. Unfortunately private sectors and NGOs are not coming forward to utilize technology to spread litarecey in the country. Private sector's involvement is integral parl of the whole process and cannot be ignored.
